● What AEO and GEO are

Answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) are two names for the same work: getting your company named inside the answers AI tools give, not only ranked in a list of links.

SEO is the work of being found in Google. The two overlap without being the same job, because the pages an AI tool quotes are often not the pages that rank. We run them as one program, on the same pages.

Search is changing.

Your prospects aren’t only using Google. They’re increasingly asking ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other AI platforms which companies and solutions they should consider.

For twenty years, ranking in Google was a fair stand-in for whether a buyer would find you. On its own, it no longer is. A company can hold every ranking it wanted and still be missing from the answer its buyer was actually shown.

AI tools answer the question directly, often without a list of links. If your company is not named in that answer, the buyer may never reach the point of comparing vendors on a website.

Most companies have never measured this. They do not know which questions their buyers ask, which competitors get recommended instead, or which of their own pages get quoted.

That is also the opportunity. Much of what decides whether a page gets cited is on the page itself: how clearly it answers, how it is structured, and whether the engines can tell what your company does. All of that can be fixed.

Services include.

We start by measuring where you appear today, in Google and in the AI tools your buyers use, for the questions they actually ask. Without that baseline, the work is guesswork.

SEO

Technical foundations, search demand research, site structure and internal linking, so Google can read the site and rank it for what your buyers search.

AEO: answer engine optimization

Pages restructured to answer your buyers’ questions directly, so AI tools can lift a clear, accurate answer and name you in it.

GEO: generative engine optimization

Entity and schema markup, plus presence in the third-party sources AI models rely on, so the engines know what your company does and when to recommend it.

AI search visibility

A fixed set of buyer questions run across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini, scored the same way every month.

Content optimization

Existing pages rewritten and restructured around what buyers actually ask, before anything new gets published.

Competitive search analysis

Who ranks and who gets recommended instead of you, on which questions, and what they have that you do not.

Authority and thought-leadership development

Original points of view, expert content and earned mentions that give search engines and AI tools a reason to trust you and cite you.

The goal: when your buyers search for a solution, your company becomes part of the answer.

How the work runs.

Measure the baseline

A set of questions built from how your buyers actually ask, run across Google and the major AI tools. You see what they currently say about you, and who they recommend instead.

Fix the foundation

Crawlability, indexation, site structure, schema markup and AI crawler access. Unglamorous and first, because everything after it builds on this.

Restructure the pages

Answer-first openings, clear structure and the content your buyers need, on the pages that should be ranking and being cited.

Build the authority

Thought leadership, earned mentions and the third-party sources the engines rely on for your category. This is the slow part, and we say so on day one.

What we report.

Rankings and citations explain movement. They are not the result. The result is pipeline from buyers who found you.

Share of answer

How often you are named across the question set, per AI tool, against the competitors named instead.

Search pipeline

Opportunities that started with a search or an AI referral, with the page and the query that brought them in.

Cited and ranking pages

Which of your pages get quoted and which rank, which tells you what to build more of.

Who this suits.

● A good fit if
  • Your buyers research vendors before they contact anyone
  • Competitors are being recommended in your category and you are not
  • You can give authority work two quarters to compound
  • Someone internally can approve page changes quickly
Not a fit if
  • You want a guaranteed ranking or citation, which nobody can honestly sell
  • You need pipeline this month, in which case start with outbound
  • You expect results without changing or publishing anything
  • Your buyers genuinely do not use search or AI tools, which is worth checking rather than assuming

Fair questions.

Is AEO just SEO with a new name?

No. Strong SEO still helps, because pages that rank well are more likely to be cited. But the pages AI tools quote are often not the pages that rank, so treating the two as one job leaves much of the opportunity on the table. We run both on the same pages, as one program.

What is the difference between AEO and GEO?

Nothing meaningful. Answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization are used interchangeably across the industry. Both mean getting your company named inside the answers AI tools give.

How fast does this move?

Structure work can change which pages get quoted within weeks, because it changes what is on the page. Authority runs on a slower arc: meaningful movement by month three, and a step change by month six to nine.

Can you guarantee rankings or citations?

No, and anyone who does is selling you something. Search engines and AI tools change without notice. What we commit to is the baseline, the work, and honest monthly reporting, including the months the numbers go down.
